Tokyo Disneyland to Resume Nighttime Fireworks and Mini-Parade Beginning September 1st

As Tokyo Disneyland continues through its phased reopening, the resort has announced the return of two nighttime offerings beginning September 1st.

Disney Light the Night – Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea’s nighttime fireworks show Disney Light the Night will be performed at 8pm nightly.

Nightfall Glow – Typically shown only during a rainy evening, Nightfall Glow is a mini-parade that will be shown nightly at Tokyo Disneyland at 6:45pm.

While many Disney fans might wonder if this move will tip off Disney’s hand when it comes to Disney World, it’s worth noting that Japan’s COVID-19 environment is different than the situation in the United States.

Yesterday, Japan recorded 601 new COVID-19 cases whereas the United States recorded 36,939 cases. Florida alone recorded more than 4 times as many cases as the entire country of Japan, tallying 2,593 cases versus the 601 in Japan. Disney has maintained that they will need to consider the COVID-19 environment in local markets when deciding how they will proceed with a phased reopening at each of their resorts. At this time, all fireworks, nightly spectaculars, and parades remain suspended at Disney World.
