Disney Responds to Senator Warren Letter About Executive Pay by Talking About Theme Park Health and Safety

In a response that largely misses the point of Senator Elizabeth Warren’s original inquiry, Disney decided to dodge the questions about executive pay, instead talking about the health and safety at their theme parks. Here’s the response, which was released to CNBC.

Here is the text of the response:

Senator Warren’s misinformed letter contains a number of inaccuracies. We’ve unequivocally demonstrated our ability to operate responsibly with strict health and safety protocols in place at all of our theme parks worldwide, with the exception of Disneyland Resort in California, where the State has prevented us from reopening even though we have reached agreements with unions representing the majority of our Cast Members that would get them back to work.

Senator Warren did not inquire about the health and safety of the theme parks, but rather about Disney’s financial decisions as it relates to executive pay and shareholder dividends. You can read her full letter here.

While Disney’s response does call Warren’s letter “misinformed” and said that it has a “number of inaccuracies”, it is unclear what Disney meant by that as Warren’s letter was about executive pay and Disney’s response was about health and safety at their theme parks.

It is unclear if Disney will actually address the content of Warren’s letter.
