‘Moana’ Room Refurbishment Begins at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Good afternoon from Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and what looks to be the first steps of the promised “Moana”-inspired overhaul to the rooms. As you can see in the photos below, work has begun on the Tuvalu, Fiji, and Aotearoa, buildings at the resort. With no guests staying in any rooms beyond the DVC wing, work can take place at whatever pace Disney (and manpower) allows.

Here’s a look at some of the work, including a peek inside some gutted guest rooms. From what we could tell, the vast majority of guest rooms were clear of all furniture, and all of the flooring was ripped out.

We’ve already seen some Moana theming arrive at ‘Ohana, but Disney hasn’t released any concept art or substantial details about the Moana room refurbishment.
