“Night of a Million Lights” Is Central Florida’s Premier Holiday Event for a Great Cause

This year, Give Kids the World is swinging open their gates to the public for the first time in their history for Night of a Million Lights! Dazzling lights and larger-than-life holiday displays will illuminate the 89-acre resort this year as the non-profit resort rings in the holiday season. BlogMickey.com was invited out to a media preview of the event recently to share our thoughts and give you more information about what you can expect to see at Night of a Million Lights!

    • Where: Give Kids The World Village is located at 210 S. Bass Rd., Kissimmee, FL 34746
    • When: Night of a Million Lights will run from 5:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. every night from November 13, 2020, through January 3, 2021
    • Cost: $25-$40 for adults/$15-$20 for kids. BUY TICKETS
    • Why: Give Kids The World Village closed to wish families in mid-March due to the global pandemic, delaying more than 4,000 wishes. Night of a Million Lights is designed to raise funds to ensure that the wishes of critically ill children can return bigger and better than ever before once the time is right to reopen.

Guests visiting Night of a Million Lights will be immersed in a stunning display of Christmas lights thanks to the efforts of more than 45 sponsors. Each house has a unique flare that represents the sponsor, or Treasured Partner, and creativity is on display! From a cheerful runway thanks to American Airlines to a WWE NXT ring to a trio of ladder Christmas trees from Home Depot, each villa has something unique to see and enjoy.

Walt Disney World provided the vast majority of the Christmas lights – over 3 million in total! The partnership between Give Kids the World and Walt Disney World is a close one, not only due to the donation of Christmas lights purchased years ago for a canceled Osborne Lights display, but in volunteer hours and even a sponsorship of two of the villas.

Let’s take a look at a few more of our favorite decorations before talking about why we think this is the perfect holiday event for 2020.

    Spirit of the Season

As we draw near to the end of 2020, it’s been a really tough year for a lot of us – including the nearly 6,000 wishes that had to be delayed due to COVID-19. Back in March, Give Kids the World Village was forced to shut its doors and pause the magic that they have been giving back since 1986.

With the doors closed, Give Kids the World Village decided to put together an ambitious Christmas event that would normally take much longer to put together. What started as an idea back in July has transformed into nothing short of a truly magical Christmas display that will surely put you in the holiday mood.

With so many holiday events cut this year due to COVID-19, Night of a Million Lights is a rare addition. Speaking of COVID-19, the event is uniquely positioned to be a safe, socially distanced experience. Because the village is normally used as a residence, there really is a shortage in parking spots. That will prove to be a bit of a blessing as there is a natural capacity limit to the event each night. The entire event takes place outdoors, and each and every guest that attends will have their temperature checked and a short, verbal confirmation about their health history.

We found it extremely easy to social distance with others on the night that we visited due to the layout of the lights essentially being on a standard neighborhood road. Even the entertainment put a fun spin on a face mask!

With the debut of Night of a Million Lights tonight, we can’t wait to go back and highly recommend a visit this year if you’re able to!
