Jim MacPhee, Disney World Operations Executive to Retire After 42 Years With Company

According to a social media post by current Walt Disney World President Jeff Vahle, Jim MacPhee will be retiring at the end of March 2021.

Congratulations to my friend and colleague Jim MacPhee on his upcoming retirement after 42 years of making magic at Disney. I met Jim as we prepared to open Disney’s Animal Kingdom. He is many things—leader, innovator, friend, husband & father. He is also a beacon for what is great in our Disney heritage. He leaves behind a tremendous legacy inspiring our Cast and helping bring magic to life for our guests. Please join me in congratulating Jim and his family as they begin the next chapter of their story on April 1!

MacPhee has served in a lot of different roles within the company in his 42 years. MacPhee worked as the operations president at Disneyland at the turn of the century before heading to Walt Disney World to focus his attention on the sprawling resort. He served as Vice President of EPCOT from 2007-2010 before becoming Senior Vice President of Next Generation Experiences (NGE) at Disney Parks. It was at NGE that MacPhee worked on MyMagic+, a suite of technology offerings that aimed to enhance the Disney Parks experience.
