Report: Disney Looking to Move Some California Operations to Orlando

According to a report from the Orlando Business Journal (OBJ), Disney is in talks to relocate some of its office divisions from headquarters in California to Orlando. Disney is reportedly targeting Lake Nona, although OBJ didn’t know what divisions might move or how many Cast Members would be relocated.

A Disney spokesperson seemingly confirmed the talks by saying that “nothing was concrete” at this time. Disney also said that they are “always exploring opportunities for additional locations within the vicinity of our theme park”.

This is seemingly the latest in a cold relationship between The Walt Disney Company and the State of California. California Governor Gavin Newsom got into a public back-and-forth with Disney executives throughout the summer and fall of last year as California repeatedly postponed the release of guidelines that ultimately created requirements that Disneyland President Ken Potrock called “unworkable” and “irreparably devastating”.

    1. If the employees that move to Florida leave their blue state politics in California, they might make it a go.
