A few character meet and greets are set to return this November at Walt Disney World. Currently, if Disney guests want to take a photo with characters, they will either have to snap a quick selfie during a cavalcade or try to find one of a handful of pop-up character experiences around the theme parks.
Beginning in November, Disney plans to bring back a modified character meet and greet experience that will still find guests physically distanced from characters. Shawn Slater, Senior Communications Manager of Disney Live Entertainment said that the “environment is not right just yet for hugs and autographs”, but promised, “individualized time with some of your favorite characters, getting to visit with them in a themed location and snap a photo or two”.
Now, Disney has renamed several of their meet and greets to “Sightings” – indicating the physically distanced nature of the “meets”.
Here’s a list of the “sightings” that guests will be able to experience starting next month at Walt Disney World:
- Sighting with Mickey at Town Square Theater
- Sighting with Tiana at Princess Fairytale Hall
- Sighting with Cinderella at Princess Fairytale Hall
- Sighting in Red Carpet Dreams (Minnie Mouse)
Confusingly, Princess Elena and Rapunzel are still listed in the description, despite not having their names in the title of the experience. To add further confusion to the situation, the URLs for the Princess Fairytale Hall “sightings” only contain Elena and Rapunzel, not Cinderella or Tiana. It’s possible that Elena and Rapunzel won’t be part of the “sightings”.
Also, Disney has added a “Sighting at Royal Sommerhus”, which could mean that Anna and/or Elsa could be moving to their indoor location.
