According to a report from Variety, Geoff Morrell will claim the role of head of communications for The Walt Disney Company when Zenia Mucha steps down at the end of the year. Morrell, who was called in by BP to run PR clean up for the deadly Deepwater Horizon explosion and oil spill, was the former press secretary at the Pentagon and a correspondent for ABC.

Morrell will reportedly pull double duty as not only the head of communications, but also take over government relations – a position held by the outgoing chief counsel Alan Braverman. Braverman will exit at the end of the year.

Deadline also reported on the hiring, saying that Disney will create a new role for Morrell titled Chief Corporate Affairs Officer. Disney has not formally announced Morrell’s hiring.
