Testing Underway at Expedition Everest During Lengthy Refurbishment

The roar of a roller coaster could be heard for the first time in about a month in the Asia section of Disney’s Animal Kingdom today as Expedition Everest began testing as part of a lengthy refurbishment. A single train was on the track today as Cast tested ongoing software updates to the attraction. Don’t make the trek out to Disney’s Animal Kingdom expecting to face the (disco) Yeti just yet though as Cast Members believe a mid-April reopening is still likely and a single train testing isn’t a sign that the ride will be coming out of refurbishment anytime soon.

As you can see in our photos below, weights were placed on the trains to simulate guests riding to ensure that the roller coaster functions as expected under weight.

It’s been a big day for fans of “trains” at Walt Disney World as The Walt Disney World Railroad was also spotted testing earlier today!
