Disney World Undertakes $2.6 Million Fiber Optic Project in Partnership With Reedy Creek Improvement District

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts has filed a notice of commencement on a $2.6 million fiber optic project that will be in partnership with the Reedy Creek Improvement District (RCID).

According to the permit, the multi-million dollar project will see Disney utilizing a lot of RCID property along many of the main roadways that act as transportation veins to various landmarks within Walt Disney World property. The permit was filed this month but was notarized back in February – before Florida Republican lawmakers targeted Disney and passed a law to dismantle the Reedy Creek Improvement District.

The project permit lists the work as Fiber Optic Expansion Phase 1, which implies that more work is slated to take place, but it’s unknown how this project might be impacted by the bill that will dismantle the Reedy Creek Improvement District next summer.
