Disney Explores “Disney Prime” Membership Service

According to The Wall Street Journal, Disney is exploring creating a membership program that would combine multiple offerings for consumers. The service, which is internally called “Disney Prime” (but will not have that name), could offer discounts or perks to consumers who spend across its various offerings such as Disney+ or at the theme parks. A spokesperson for Disney confirmed that Disney is exploring a “membership program”, but did not offer any details about the service at this time.

With the D23 Expo just around the corner, it’s possible that Chapek & Co. could get on stage and tease the program in front of the type of audience that would be most likely to buy in. The Walt Disney Company does have a diverse set of entertainment and experiences from a simple Disney+ streaming service to a concierge flight around the world, and just about everything in between.

Disney already is offering discounts to Disney+ subscribers at its theme parks, and a new membership program could accelerate those types of discounts. Another offering that has been in the parks for quite some time is a special meet and greet and photo opportunities for guests who own a Disney Visa credit card.

    1. Ugh. Almost too much shenanigans going on with Chapek. Very nickel and dimey. Just figure it out and let it be for a year or so. I am fine with the current reservation system as I don’t live next to the park and don’t go on whims. Fine with G+ and the pricing if it and Individual Lightning Lanes pricing as well. Can’t imagine anything extra that a plus offering would give.
