Disney World has updated its online calendar to reflect an early close for Magic Kingdom on January 31, 2023. According to the calendar, Magic Kingdom will open at 9am and close at 4:30pm, likely for a private event.
Disney World typically holds Cast Member milestone celebrations early in the year at Magic Kingdom. It’s possible that this early closure is for the Cast milestone event.
Magic Kingdom is open from 9am to 10pm on other days that week.

Boy, how things have changed! When I was a CM at the Magic Kingdom in the late 80’s, New Year’s Eve was one of two nights (the other one was Independence Day) where MK’s regular operating hours went beyond midnight, to 2am, and they had special fireworks.
It would be unheard of to shut down for a private event (internal or external) on that day.
Weird.
New Year’s Eve is December 31st, this closure is January 31st
It’s a CM service celebration.
