Additional Showtimes Planned for ‘Festival of the Lion King’ Starting December 26th & Into 2023

Disney World appears ready to ramp up showtimes for the popular Festival of the Lion King show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Starting December 26th, there will be eight showtimes per day, including on weekdays, which have typically dropped the 1pm showtime seen on weekends. Before the COVID-19 pandemic impacted Disney World staffing levels, Animal Kingdom would typically schedule nine showtimes per day.

According to the Disney World website, there will be nine showtimes per day on December 29th, 30th, and January 1st and 2nd, before going back to eight showtimes per day.

The Festival of the Lion King show takes place in the Africa-themed land in Animal Kingdom. Guests are able to join a standby queue or utilize the Disney Genie+ system to skip the line. Festival of the Lion King was one of a few shows that utilized a reduced performer lineup during safety operational adjustments before going back to a “full” show back in July.
