TRON Lightcycle Run Cast Member previews have begun at Magic Kingdom and it is a very rainy afternoon at The Most Magical Place on Earth. Rain is quite common at Walt Disney World, although less common in early February versus the summer months, but one thing that we noticed while walking around Magic Kingdom is that TRON Lightcycle Run continued to operate in the rain as other outdoor attractions closed. While a bit of light rain typically won’t close an attraction, heavy rain can close a ride, and lightning within a set radius of Magic Kingdom will close outdoor rides.
The reason TRON Lightcycle Run is able to keep operating, rain or shine, is because the attraction is considered to be an “under cover” attraction thanks to the Upload Circuit canopy. The canopy completely covers the outdoor portion of the ride, which allows the ride to essentially function like an indoor ride would. When speaking with Cast Members, they likened it to the Mad Tea Party attraction because it is open-air, but under cover and considered sheltered from the elements. There was a brief period of heavy rain this afternoon and operations at TRON Lightcycle Run didn’t seem to stop or pause.
Guests, aka Users, will be able to enjoy the attraction regardless of the Florida weather in the area, including lightning, according to Cast Members we spoke with.
TRON Lightcycle Run officially opens to the public on April 4, 2023!
