D23 Affected by Disney Layoffs, Could Be Restructured

D23, the official fan club for The Walt Disney Company, is the latest division to be hit by layoffs, according to a report from Deadline (h/t Scott Gustin). According to the report, up to 25% of the department may be impacted by layoffs, and there is speculation that the division may be restructured.

D23 is probably most well-known for its annual conferences, both in the Disneyland area and Walt Disney World area. This year, Destination D23 is scheduled to take place at Walt Disney World in September. Last September, the much larger D23 Expo was held in Anaheim.

D23 also holds smaller events throughout the year such as movie screenings or new ride previews.

Disney has said that it plans on reducing its workforce by 7,000 jobs by this summer.

The most high-profile layoff at D23 is Jeffrey R Epstein, VP of communications for D23.
