There has been a bit of a character shuffle recently at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and we’ll start our coverage with Chip & Dale. The lovable chipmunks are no longer solving crimes as pint-sized detectives. Instead, Chip & Dale have traded in their Rescue Ranger outfits for pumpkins as they kick off the Halloween season early at Walt Disney World.
Earlier this year, Chip & Dale debuted a Rescue Rangers-themed meet & greet at Disney’s Hollywood Studios to much fanfare. They would later relocate where they met with guests but kept the Rescue Rangers outfits until recently.

Now, guests can find Chip & Dale on the Hollywood Brown Derby lawn with custom-made portraits carved into pumpkins. We recently made it out to Disney’s Hollywood Studios to take some photos!
Chip & Dale set out to have a pumpkin picnic but Chip was immediately distracted by the prospect of using the blanket as a cover to become a ghost. Dale joined in by imitating Frankenstein’s monster.

After a short delay, they were back on track and ready to have a pumpkin picnic.

They played with the pumpkins for a few minutes before waving to guests and posing for pictures.

Cast Members we spoke with were unsure how long Chip & Dale might continue to have picnics on the Brown Derby lawn, and encouraged guests to check the My Disney Experience on the day of their visit. The Brown Derby lawn is utilized for “sightings”, meaning that you can watch the characters and take photos from a distance, but you will not be able to meet characters for a hug, high-five, or autograph.
