DeSantis’ Oversight District Fires Director of Communications, Chief of Human Resources & Others

    Published:

According to an article from the Orlando Sentinel, the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District has fired top employees just days before Thanksgiving. Eryka Washington Perry, the Director of Communications, and Jason Middleton, the Chief of Human Resources were among the top employees let go today. Other firings included an administrative assistant and a facilities maintenance specialist.

Glen Gilzean, Administrator for the District, called the firings “isolated and specific” in an email to employees:

These separations were isolated and specific and are not representative of our team members who show up every day with excellence and a clear vision of a stronger tomorrow for our taxpayers and visitors
    Glen Gilzean, CFTOD Adminstrator

Both Washington-Perry and Middleton were hired under the previous Board of Supervisors, but Gilzean said that no further information about their firings would be provided.

The culling is just the latest at DeSantis’ Oversight District, which has lost more than 40 employees since the presidential hopeful took over the District as retaliation for Disney’s public stance against him and his “Don’t Say Gay” bill.

In a meeting last week, Gilzean said that morale has increased in the district after a report said that multiple employee exit interviews indicated the exact opposite.
