Following a barrage of negative feedback after the first Disney Jollywood Nights event, Disney World scrambled to add more character meet and greets in an effort to soak up some of the crowds that were overloading a small(er) list of things to do.

The idea, we’re told, is to entice guests to stand in lines for rare characters instead of overloading lines for food and drink offerings. In short, there were too few 15-minute things to wait in line for, which meant that the offerings that guests were interested in were drawing wait times over 30-60 minutes long. During a 4-hour event, guests will feel more accomplished with meeting 4-5 characters during the span of 60 minutes instead of grabbing a pre-mixed drink and a bite to eat in that same 60 minutes.
Here’s a list of new characters that were at Disney Jollywood Nights tonight (in addition to the characters on night one):
- Santa Duffy Bear (Mickey Short Film Theater)
- Snow White & Dopey OR Mary Poppins & Penguin Waiter (Grand Avenue)
- Jiminy Cricket OR Pinocchio (Center Stage near Chinese Theater)
- Santa Stitch (Center Stage near Chinese Theater)
Are additional characters enough to save the event as a whole? I’m not so sure. That said, it will very likely have the intended effect of normalizing some of the lopsided wait times that we saw during night one. For our review of the opening night of the event, check out the article below!
