As we continue to enjoy the 2023 EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays, we wanted to take a look at this year’s version of Olaf’s Holiday Tradition Expedition Scavenger Hunt. Like other scavenger hunts, this one is technically free to play if you simply want to wander around World Showcase and find hidden Olafs, or you can pay to get a map and be eligible for a prize as well. Here’s a look at the 2023 Olaf’s Holiday Tradition Expedition Scavenger Hunt during the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays.
Olaf’s Holiday Tradition Expedition Scavenger Hunt | $9.99
Go on a quest to find holiday traditions that Olaf has gathered—and lost—along the way!
Here’s how to join in the fun:
- First, purchase your scavenger hunt map and stickers for $9.99 plus tax from select merchandise locations, including Creations Shop and World Traveler.
- Using the stickers on your map, mark the “tradition” that Olaf has found in each Pavilion.
- At the end of your adventure—even if you don’t find all of the holiday traditions—you can bring your map to Disney Traders, Creations Shop or World Traveler… and redeem your map for a gift worth melting for!
Olaf’s Tradition Expedition Scavenger Hunt is subject to cancellation or change without notice including—without limitation—dates, surprises and prices. Maps, stickers and game boards available while supplies last. Limit 5 game board purchases per Guest. One surprise per game board. Game board valid for redemption through December 30, 2023, or while surprise supplies last.
Olaf’s Holiday Tradition Expedition Scavenger Hunt Prizes
Guests can select one of four different cookie cutter prizes per map. You don’t have to complete the map to get the prizes, and you can actually get both at the same time if you buy the map at one of the three redemption locations (Disney Traders, Creations Shop or World Traveler).
Olaf’s Holiday Tradition Expedition Scavenger Hunt Locations
Starting with Canada, we can find Olaf in the Victoria Gardens, a lush area inspired by the Butchart Gardens near Victoria, British Columbia. More specifically, we find Olaf on the other side of the pond near a cabin. Olaf’s holiday tradition in the Canada Pavilion is gingerbread cookies!
Head to the back of the United Kingdom pavilion if you’d like to find Olaf this year. Last year, Olaf was visible from the World Showcase promenade, but this year you’ll find him on top of an exterior window at the Lords and Ladies shop back toward the United Kingdom maze garden. Olaf’s holiday tradition in the United Kingdom is Christmas crackers!
Speaking of maze gardens, Olaf is a pretty easy find in the France Pavilion, utilizing the same location as last year near the Holiday Storyteller. Here’s to hoping next year is a new location! Olaf’s holiday tradition in France is holly and logs!
L’Chaim! Holiday Kitchen
The clue is in the name and we find another traditional spot for Olaf. Olaf’s holiday tradition at L’Chaim is dreidels!
Unlike the United Kingdom pavilion, there is no need to walk deep into the Morocco Pavilion, with Olaf visible right from the promenade walkway. Olaf’s holiday tradition in Morocco is olive branches!
Olaf has moved to a different spot this year when compared to last year, and is easier to find! Olaf’s holiday tradition in Japan is Kagami mochi!
America Gardens Theater
Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way! Olaf can be found atop the Fife & Drum Tavern roof across from the America Gardens Theater. Olaf’s holiday tradition in the America Gardens Theater location is sheet music for Jingle Bells!
The American Adventure
Guests can find Olaf at the base of the Christmas Tree in The American Adventure. Olaf’s holiday tradition in The American Adventure is a Kwanzaa Kinara Set!
We would say to look for the gondolas in Italy, but they have been removed ever since a viral incident of a guest jumping in the water. Anyway! Look for Olaf near the canal in the Italy Pavilion. Olaf’s holiday tradition in Italy is Panettone!
Look to the window sills of Der Teddybear in the Germany Pavilion to find Olaf with a holiday tradition of candy canes!
Olaf can be found along the banks of a serene pond in the China Pavilion. Olaf’s holiday tradition in China is lanterns!
Back, back, over (near) the falls! Guests can find Olaf in the Norway Pavilion near a waterfall to the side of the entrance to Frozen Ever After. Olaf’s holiday tradition in Norway is a straw Yule goat!
Completing our lap around World Showcase, we find Olaf on an upper-floor balcony near La Hacienda de San Angel. Olaf’s holiday tradition in Mexico is Poinsettias!
