Disney World Files Permits (Likely) for ‘Dreams That Soar’ Drone Show Launch Site

Two new permits filed by Walt Disney Parks & Resorts suggest that Disney is preparing for the ‘Dreams That Soar’ summer drone show. The show will run nightly from May 24 through Sept. 2, and will be seen above Lake Buena Vista at Disney Springs’ West Side.

The Dreams That Soar drone show will celebrate the joy of flight with state-of-the-art drones choreographed to create designs in the sky and paired with a “soaring” musical score and memorable movie quotes.

The new permits list the Jim William Fence Company for the construction of two fenced paddocks near the shores of Lake Buena Vista on the West Side of Disney Springs. One permit calls for 870′ of 6-foot-high fencing with five access gates. A second permit calls for 250′ of 8-foot-high fence with a scrim. It’s likely that these two fences will be used as the storage and launch sites for the drones, but nothing in the permits says that it is for drone use.

This limited-time show at Disney Springs will likely mark Disney World’s proper foray into using drones for nighttime shows, and could even be a proof of concept of sorts for shows inside of the Disney World theme parks.
