In an exclusive with the LA Times, Disneyland has confirmed that they are developing plans to move away from the gas cars at the Autopia attraction.

Since opening with Disneyland park in 1955, Autopia has remained a guest-favorite most popular with young kids experiencing driving for the first time. As the industry moves toward alternative fuel sources, we have developed a roadmap to electrify this attraction and are evaluating technology that will enable us to convert from gas engines in the next few years.

It’s not immediately clear if the upgraded vehicles will be all-electric or a hybrid of some sort.

There’s no word on if there will be any changes at Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland Speedway, but BlogMickey.com has reached out to Disney for comment.
