Weeks ahead of the end of the 2024 EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, the projection mapping effect for the Dante topiary has been removed. The effect did not debut at the start of the Festival, and it looks like it won’t make it to the end of the Flower & Garden Festival either.
The projector was on a tall platform across the walkway from the Dante and Miguel topiaries, making an exact projection-mapped effect quite difficult. The projector was slightly out of alignment when the effect debuted, and it only worsened over time. The slightest movement, be it wind or a settling platform base, meant that the projector was out of alignment.
It was a valiant effort, and we hope that Disney World tries it again in the future, but it’s disappointing to see it go early. Here’s a look at the missing platform, followed by some of our photos from when the effect debuted months ago.
The projector previously sat between the light pole and the speaker installation, as seen below.
