The Disney Dreams That Soar drone show has wrapped up an early morning Cast Member preview, and we were able to catch the full show from the shores of Saratoga Springs resort across from Disney Springs. The nearly 10-minute show employs an astonishing 800 drones, and Disney says the best view is from the Disney Springs West Side viewing area. The show officially debuts on May 24th and will run through September 2, 2024. Disney Dreams That Soar drone show will be shown twice per night.

Imagine hundreds of state-of-the-art drones “dancing” across the sky, choreographed to a soaring musical score of iconic Disney music and memorable dialogue from beloved Disney movies. Watch them fly in a constant state of transformation—designing towering elements that are 400-feet tall and creating images of some of your favorite Disney characters from Toy Story, Coco, Dumbo, Peter Pan, Up, the Star Wars saga and more!

Earlier this morning, the Disney Dreams That Soar drone show was presented as a Cast Member exclusive preview. So while the Disney Springs viewing area was only for Cast Members (no friends or family), we could see the reverse side of the show from Saratoga Springs. Note that our images and video are flipped to present the “correct” view as if you were watching from Disney Springs.
According to Show Director Tony Giordano, Disney assembled a team of Disney characters for the show who had a dream of flying.
“We are presenting Disney characters who have had a dream of flying. Not just the idea that they can fly, but the idea of taking their lives to the next level”, said Giordano. “We put a lot of thought in making sure that no matter how old you are, or how much of a fan you are, you’re going to see a character that you love.”
Characters like Baymax are represented on a massive scale – nearly twice the height of Spaceship Earth.
It’s not just the scale of the show that’s impressive, Disney also created an original song that will “inspire you to follow your heart, take a leap of faith, and reach for the stars”.
Because it’s shown at Disney Springs, the Disney Dreams That Soar drone show is free to watch – no park ticket required and no parking fee. This alone should make the offering quite popular this summer. We imagine that crowds will be quite high during the opening period for the show, but that it should be easier to see as demand moderates beyond Memorial Day Weekend.
