Disney World Fourth of July Update: Fireworks Show Removed, Shorter Hours Than Previously Announced

|

|

The Disney Parks Blog has been quietly updated to remove a previously announced fireworks show at EPCOT and longer hours at Magic Kingdom for this Fourth of July holiday. Here’s a look at what has changed:

EPCOT

Previously, Disney World had announced performances of the impressive Heartbeat of Freedom tag at EPCOT for July 3rd and July 4th. Now, the press release only mentions July 4th. The press release still says “performances”, plural, but only lists one showtime at 9pm on July 4th.

The previous announcement that EPCOT would celebrate the Fourth of July over a two-day period would’ve been unprecedented in the modern Walt Disney World era.

Magic Kingdom

Previously, the press release mentioned that Magic Kingdom would be open from 8am to midnight on July 3rd and 8am to 1am on July 4th. Operating hours for both days have been shortened. New operating hours at 9am to 11pm on July 3rd, and 8am to 11pm on July 4th. Guests staying at a Deluxe Resort will be able to enjoy the Extended Evening Hours perk on July 3rd from 11pm to 1am, but regular guests will need to exit at 11pm.

Magic Kingdom will still present “Disney’s Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky” on July 3rd and July 4th at Magic Kingdom.

It’s unclear why Disney World backtracked today after posting the article two days ago.
