Facing Another Hot Summer, Disney World Rolls Out Shade for PhotoPass Photographers

|

There are few roles at Walt Disney World that spend more time in direct sunlight than Disney PhotoPass photographers. Many of the outdoor PhotoPass locations have little to no shade, and with a hot summer ahead, Disney World has begun to roll out small umbrellas at some of the most unforgiving photo op locations.

We’ve only seen a few of these umbrellas in use, and primarily at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Here’s a look at the Donald Duck and Daisy Duck meet and greet along Grand Avenue, with no shade at all for the PhotoPass photographer if it weren’t for the umbrella. The umbrella will, of course, become more effective as the sun rises and becomes more dangerous. Disney has purchased a few Versa-Brella brand umbrellas, which are adjustable and provide SPF protection.

Temperatures, which are only pleasant for a few weeks out of the year, typically heat up in April and will reach their peak in July and August, remaining hot through September before retreating a bit towards the end of October.
