State of Emergency Issued for Walt Disney World Area Ahead of Possible Tropical Storm This Weekend or Early Next Week

It’s hurricane season once again, and the first threat of a possible tropical storm for Florida is on the horizon. Ahead of the possible formation and impact of a tropical storm late this weekend or into next week, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has issued a state of emergency. Walt Disney World is completely under a state of emergency.

The state of emergency allows the state of Florida to activate resources, but it doesn’t activate Walt Disney World hurricane policies. In order for Walt Disney World hurricane policies to be activated, an official hurricane warning needs to be issued by the National Hurricane Center, per Disney.

That said, if you’re traveling to Walt Disney World this weekend and into next week, you’ll want to keep Invest 97L on your radar, as conditions can and will change. Currently, forecasters are calling for prolonged heavy rain and gusty winds as the storm makes its way into the Florida peninsula. It is still too early to know the exact track of the storm, which currently has a 70% chance of forming into a tropical storm in the next week.
