New Second Room Now Under Construction, Expanding Footprint of Pirates Bar at Magic Kingdom

    Published:

While visiting Magic Kingdom recently, we decided to stop by the construction site for the new Pirates of the Caribbean bar in Adventureland. As it turns out, there is quite a bit of work taking place, but it still looks like we’re many months away from opening. Officially, Disney has said that the new tavern will open sometime in 2025.

New Room Built for Upcoming Pirates Tavern

The last time we checked in on the project, we saw that the former Pirates League space was gutted as Disney began the transformation. Now, we can see that a new room is being built, expanding the footprint of the former Pirates League into a space previously used by the gift shop.

The new room is being added to the southeast section of the Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar gift shop. In the file photo below, we can see the area that has now become a room. On the far left side of the image is the former Pirates League space, and to the right are the gift shop registers. The area where merchandise is pictured is now a new room, expanding the Pirates League footprint.

As we can see below, new walls are being built, expanding the footprint of the space to add a new room. It also looks like some new infrastructure is being added to support the new room too.

If I had to guess, this new room might be the space represented in the recently released concept art below. This would be the tamer room of what is expected to be a two-room bar/tavern/lounge.

The more rowdy concept art below likely represents the room taking over the former Pirates League space. It’s possible that in the artwork below, the doors in the middle of the space are the main entrance where the former Pirates League entrance was. The bar would be along a wall that abuts the Pirates of the Caribbean queue and courtyard. The server walking in from the left would be walking in from the new room now under construction – all viewed from a recessed table at the far end of the room from the entrance. It makes sense to me, but we’ll have to see what the final product ends up being.

To better attempt to illustrate what I’m thinking, here’s an overlay of the Pirates of the Caribbean gift shop and queue complex. The building to the right of the color overlays is the covered queue for the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, with the clock tower visible on the right side of the image.

The “rowdy room” in the concept art above would be the blue room, the more tame room being built now would be the red room, and our vantage point is represented by the dark red dot, looking out toward the space as represented by the green cone.
