A (perhaps) final update has been made to the Adventureland pavement project, bringing the ground under the entrance merchandise carts up to date with the rest of the land. We made it out to Magic Kingdom recently to take a look at the changes!
More Adventureland Pavement Updates
First, here’s a look back at the merchandise kiosks and the old pavement under them. The photo is from last fall when the kiosks were being prepared for the arrival Hurricane Milton.

And here’s a look at the same area from our recent visit to Magic Kingdom!

The paving looks great. The structures have great “bones” in terms of architectural detail. But they need a thematic overhaul of scenic painting, weathering, props (luggage, wagons, barrels, crates, bird cages, stuff!) and the walls need vintage posters and advertisements. All the signage for retail/dining needs replacement with era-appropriate vintage signage.
But first, they need to decide WHEN this land takes place. At Disneyland, there is a very clear 1930s vibe to the land. But at MK it’s very un-immersive and lacking in intent. Pick an era and then go for it, Disney! Make us feel like WE are on an adventure. Because it only requires superficial scenic painting and props, this is not a huge capital outlay. After 50 years, it’s time to bring Adventureland up to modern theme park expectations.
