Universal Orlando Resort has announced a lengthy refurbishment for the Jurassic Park River Adventure attraction. What is notable about this closure is the length of the downtime. River Adventure will be closed for more than 10 months, starting in early January 2026. Here are the announced details.

According to Universal Orlando Resort, Jurassic Park River Adventure will be closed starting January 5, 2026, reopening on November 19, 2026.

As of publish time, this is the only announced refurbishment for the Universal Orlando Resort theme parks in 2026. That said, here are the upcoming refurbishments for the remainder of 2025:

  • Dudley Do-Right’s RipSaw Falls | October 6 – 31, 2025
  • Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey | November 10 – 20, 2025
  • Hogwarts Express | September 15 – 19, 2025

Jurassic Park River Adventure is a water ride where you will get wet. What begins as a relaxing float down the river past herbivores quickly turns into an escape from the jaws of a T-Rex. The finale of the ride features an 85-foot drop – the tallest drop for a theme park water ride at the time. The ride utilizes 1.5 million gallons of water to take guests through some beautiful scenery, past large dinosaurs such as the Ultrasaurus, Psittacosaurus, and Stegosaurus.

Just as you meet up with a territorial Parasaurolophus, you are bumped off course into the Raptor containment area, where you meet some destructive Compys and Velociraptors.

To get you to safety, you are rerouted into the enormous Environmental Systems building where you’ll meet some fierce Raptors before coming face-to-face with the enormous Tyrannosaurus rex.

  1. Nice article. And, BTW, thank you for not using annoying click bait titles. I’m happy to read the article since you clearly stated when and why it’s closing. Unlike some other sites that I swear ill never visit ever again.
