Thunder Falls Terrace has permanently closed at Universal Islands of Adventure. A sign posted at the restaurant’s entrance confirms the closure. The Universal Orlando website has also been updated to remove the webpage for the dining venue. It comes as Universal moves forward with plans to reimagine the space into a new signature dining concept.

Thunder Falls Terrace, now permanently closed, served as a quick-service dining spot inside Jurassic Park. Its outdoor terrace overlooked the splashdown of Jurassic Park River Adventure. The menu leaned into the land’s theming, with rotisserie chicken, ribs, and other barbecue-style offerings. It was an opening-day offering, sitting in that spot since Islands of Adventure debuted on May 28, 1999.
Universal has not yet detailed what the interior will look like once work wraps up, but the location will not reopen as Thunder Falls Terrace.
What Replaces Thunder Falls Terrace
Universal confirmed in May that Thunder Falls Terrace would close this summer for a full reimagining. That announcement billed the new restaurant as the signature full-service dining location for Islands of Adventure. A debut is planned for 2027.
The timing lines up with another major change already underway at the park. Mythos Restaurant in the Lost Continent is also closing, with Universal targeting 2027 for that shutdown as well. The surrounding Lost Continent land is being demolished for a new themed land.
Universal has not announced further specifics on the new Jurassic Park table service restaurant’s theming, menu, or exact opening date beyond the 2027 target. We’ll continue to bring you updates on the transformation as more details emerge.
