Poseidon’s Fury Building Demolition Underway for Lost Continent Mystery Project

|

New aerial photos from friend of the site Bioreconstruct show the former Eighth Voyage of Sindbad theater site now reduced to a bare, graded dirt lot, while demolition crews work to level the Poseidon’s Fury show building nearby at Universal’s Islands of Adventure. Mythos Restaurant’s rocky facade remains standing in the photos, with the restaurant expected to stay open into next year. Here’s a look at the latest progress as Universal prepares the area for a mysterious new project.

Lost Continent Demolition Continues at Islands of Adventure

IN THIS ARTICLE:

  • The former Sindbad theater site is now a cleared dirt lot
  • Excavators are actively tearing into the Poseidon’s Fury show building
  • The mystery continues for Lost Continent

Sindbad Site Cleared to Bare Dirt

The former Eighth Voyage of Sindbad theater footprint is now an open expanse of bare dirt. Heavy equipment continues to move earth across the site. A large circular depression filled with standing water sits near the center of the cleared lot. Dump trucks, rollers, and excavators are staged throughout the area. Grading work appears to be ongoing even though no structures remain standing.

The cleared footprint is significant in scale. It stretches from the backstage buildings toward the Mythos Restaurant plaza. Guest pathways near the Lost Continent entrance remain narrowed, fenced off from the active work zone. Construction walls route foot traffic around the site.

Poseidon’s Fury Building Demolition

The former Poseidon’s Fury show building is now clearly in the middle of demolition. Multiple excavators can be seen tearing into the structure’s steel framing. Large sections of the roof have been demolished, exposing twisted metal. Piles of debris and rubble surround the building on multiple sides.

Part of the building’s exterior walls remain standing for now. That contrast gives the aerials a stark before-and-after look, with a mostly intact facade next to a collapsed interior. As we reported when the Trident and surrounding plaza came down in June, Universal has been working through the site in phases. Crews cleared the entrance plaza first, then moved into the show building itself. These newest photos show a significant portion of the building’s interior has been gutted and demolished.

Mythos Restaurant Still Standing

The rocky, cave-like exterior of Mythos Restaurant remains fully intact in the photos. It sits just beyond the demolition zone along the water’s edge. Universal has confirmed plans to keep the restaurant open until 2027.

Construction walls separate guests from the active work site. A clear path remains open to Mythos, keeping it accessible while demolition continues nearby. From above, the domed rockwork and surrounding water make Mythos an easy landmark to spot against the flattened lots on either side.
