Magic Kingdom Closing Early at 4:30pm in Late January 2026

According to an update to the Walt Disney World online theme park hours calendar, Magic Kingdom will be closing early on January 27th. The world’s busiest theme park is scheduled to close at 4:30pm that day. Keep reading for our best guess as to why it is closing early, and what you can expect at the other theme parks that day.

Magic Kingdom Closing Early at 4:30pm in Late January

On January 27, 2026, Magic Kingdom will close at 4:30pm. This is very likely due to the Cast Member service celebration, where Disney “rents” out Magic Kingdom for the night for a wonderful celebration of Cast Members who have employment milestones at the company.

Imagine walking down the middle of your very own red carpet … lights flashing, crowds cheering, and Magic Kingdom Park closed early just for you. This is how it feels to be a cast member celebrating your milestone anniversary during a Service Celebration!

This special party honors anniversaries in true Disney style – from 10 years all the way up to 50 years. And in 2024, Disney celebrated over 8,300 cast members with more than 100,000 years of service at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland!

The festivities start when thousands of cast members and their invited guests arrive and are cheered on by hundreds of other cast members as they get the red carpet treatment – with none other than Cinderella Castle as the backdrop.

Specialty food and beverages, low wait times on popular attractions, and special Disney character greetings are just some of the unique opportunities that await honorees on this special night. And at the end of the night, a cast-exclusive firework spectacular lights up the night sky.

While Walt Disney World has not publicly announced that the Cast Member service celebration is the reason for the early closure at Magic Kingdom, the 4:30pm close on January 27th aligns with service celebrations in the past.

In terms of what you can expect on January 27th, typically, you’ll find lower crowds throughout the day at Magic Kingdom due to the shortened hours. In terms of crowd levels, it’s expected to be a 1/10 day at Magic Kingdom. That means that we’ll see higher crowds in the other theme parks, across the board. Usually, EPCOT absorbs the highest number of guests during an early closure like this at Magic Kingdom.

In terms of planning, I would recommend visiting Magic Kingdom on that day, and either enjoying your resort at night, or hopping over to another park with the knowledge that it will be busier. We also tend to see an uptick in crowds at Magic Kingdom on either side of the early closure as well, so it might be a good idea to avoid Magic Kingdom on the 26th and 28th as well.
