Walt Disney Imagineering has filed three new permits for the Muppets takeover of the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The permits were all filed today as Imagineering continues to prepare for a quick turnaround of the attraction once it closes in early March. Here’s the latest.
Imagineering Files Three NEW Permits for Muppets Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster
Walt Disney Imagineering filed three permits for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets today. The Notice of Commencement permits cover electrical work and new signage for the attraction. Here’s a breakdown of what we saw.
We’ll start with the two electrical permits, which are much more than a new outlet or two. Both permits list “electrical work” as the scope of construction, with an address that resolves to the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster attraction. Two different companies are listed as the contractors, but there appears to be some overlap in what they specialize in.
First up is SOLOTECH, a company that specializes in custom audio/visual installations. Disney has previously used SOLOTECH for a number of projects, including the Test Track reimagining, the upcoming reimagining of the MuppetVision 3D theater, Zootopia: Better Zoogether, and more.
The other company working on “Electrical Work” is Elite A/V Systems. Elite A/V Systems has recently been used by Disney for work on Zootopia: Better Zoogether Tree of Life show at Animal Kingdom and for work on Test Track at EPCOT. They’re also working on the updates for Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin at Magic Kingdom.
Sign Producers Inc. is listed as the contractor for the signage installation. As is typical for these Notice of Commencement permits, it’s unclear where exactly the new signage is going. We’d imagine that there will need to be some changes to the exterior and interior of the ride beyond the repainting of the giant guitar.
