There has been a lot of loss at Walt Disney World lately with the removal of the Rivers of America, MuppetVision 3D, DINOSAUR, and more. Now, we can add a beloved breadfruit tree to the list. While visiting EPCOT today, we rode the Living with the Land attraction only to find that the breadfruit tree that dominated the greenhouse has been removed. Here’s a look.
Breadfruit Tree Removed from Living with the Land
First, a look back at the tree that was iconic to the greenhouse dome at Living with the Land. The breadfruit tree served as a backdrop for the entrance scene for the popular Glimmering Greenhouses holiday overlay. It also stood as the defining feature for the entrance into this portion of the ride.
And here’s a look at the scene today, with the breadfruit tree removed. Cast Members that we spoke with said that the tree was simply getting too big for the space, and the safety of the ride. Cast said that they were able to salvage the trunk and that they will compost the rest of the tree.
It’s unclear what will replace it, but the current line of thinking is that we’ll see a new breadfruit tree growing in the same spot in the future! In the meantime, this view will have to do.
