Der Teddybär has reopened as a full toy shop in the Germany Pavilion at EPCOT. Shelves are restocked with plush characters, princess dresses, and keepsake suitcases. The familiar toy biplane and nutcracker band display still hang overhead. We stopped by to visit the shop, along with three refurbishment projects affecting the pavilion’s restrooms, Volkskunst, and Stein Haus.

Der Teddybär’s Return
I could be very wrong, but I haven’t seen Der Teddybär operate as a traditional, walk-in toy shop in recent years. Disney confirmed in 2020 that Der Teddybär would not reopen alongside the rest of Walt Disney World’s shops following the COVID-19 closure. The space has mostly hosted passholder shopping events and character meet and greets since then, rather than general retail. However, it looks like closures nearby have forced the shop to open.
Now, the doors are open, and the shelves are full. Plush characters line the walls, alongside a rack of purple princess dresses. Keepsake items and stuffed animals fill the room. Overhead, the shop’s signature fixtures remain in place. A toy biplane hangs from the rafters, and a row of nutcracker musicians lines the upper balcony shelf next to a miniature model village.
The “Der Teddybär Toy Shop” sign still hangs outside. Its arched entryway opens directly onto the pavilion courtyard near Volkskunst. A small Kidcot stop sits in one corner of the shop. We skipped photographing it this time since a family with young children was using it during our visit.
Three Refurbishments Underway in the Pavilion
Der Teddybär’s reopening comes as the Germany Pavilion works through three separate refurbishment projects. A temporary wall now surrounds the pavilion’s restroom. Posted signage directs guests to use the restroom inside The American Adventure instead. There is no known reopening date.
Volkskunst, the “clocks and crafts” shop next door to Der Teddybär, is currently closed as well. Its exterior storefront door is shut. The interior connecting door to Das Kaufhaus is shut too, cutting off access to the space from either direction for now.
Stein Haus, meanwhile, remains open to guests but is dealing with its own disruption. A large tan scrim now covers the upper section of the building near the Weinkeller archway. Inside, a sign asks guests to exit Stein Haus through one of the neighboring shops instead. The store itself continues operating, with its usual mix of beer steins and apparel still on the shelves.
None of the three projects have posted completion dates yet. We’ll continue to check in on the Germany Pavilion as work progresses.
