REVIEW: Cookies and Cream Churro; Caramel Stuffed Pretzel at Magic Kingdom

We made it out to the Magic Kingdom recently and heard about some new snacks available to guests. The Cookies and Cream Churro and Caramel Stuffed Pretzel have been introduced recently in Tortuga Tavern and Lunching Pad, respectively. Let’s review.

Cookies and Cream Churro – $5.49

The Cookies and Cream Churro can be found at Tortuga Tavern, across from Pirates of the Caribbean. The name sure sounds delicious, but while we found the churro be just as good as any other churro, the flavor was missing. It tasted like a normal churro with a warm, flavorless cream inside.

The churro does come with a milk chocolate dipping sauce that was nice, but when this is priced the same as a nearby Dole Whip, it’s tough to give this a recommendation.

Caramel Stuffed Pretzel – $5.49

After trying the Cookies and Cream Churro, we found another brand new snack over at the Lunching Pad – a Caramel Stuffed Pretzel.

While I was initially hesitant based on the name alone, I’m happy to say that it was a wonderfully executed snack. A warmed caramel center pairs quite nicely with the salted exterior. The caramel was a bit on the muted side, as far as flavoring is concerned, but that was perfectly fine by me because it worked excellent with the pretzel bread.

This treat also comes with the same chocolate dipping sauce and I would recommend taking advantage of it. A subtle caramel flavoring + salted pretzel + chocolate dipping sauce is a wonderful burst of flavoring.

When considering the two snacks, I would give the nod to the Caramel Stuffed Pretzel on both value and taste.
