Tortuga Tavern Seating Area Partially Reopens as New Flooring Project Expands

Tortuga Tavern, the seasonal quick-service location at Magic Kingdom, has some new flooring as part of an ongoing project in Adventureland. The project began in January, and we forecasted the new flooring pattern a few weeks ago. At this point, Walt Disney World has not announced a reopening date for Tortuga Tavern, so I’m inclined to think that the changes here are part of a larger budget for pavement in Adventureland. Recently, the seating area reopened and we have a look at the new flooring design!

Tortuga Tavern New Flooring Design

First, here’s a look back at the old flooring design. Square tiles dominated the space.

And here’s a look at the new design! As you can see, larger irregular tiles fit between rows of bricks connecting the unchanged columns.

Here’s a look at the new design (left) and a familiar pattern near the cash register area (right).

Work at Tortuga Tavern has expanded to a part of the seating area that is closer to Pecos Bill overflow seating. As you can see in the photos below, it looks like a similar pattern will be used in this area as well.

Here are a few photos of the exterior of the dining location, showing where the shrubs (and construction) were located during our most recent visit.
