The Walt Disney World website has been updated to note the closure of the Pirates of the Caribbean gift shop at Magic Kingdom. As we previously reported, Tortuga Treasures is a temporary store located at the former Tortuga Tavern quick-service restaurant across from the Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar.
In our earlier reporting, we noted that the construction walls in the gift shop were probably to support the transformation of the former Pirates League space for a Pirates of the Caribbean-themed bar. We have reached out to Disney World for more information about the construction taking place at Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar, but we have not heard back.
The Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar webpage has been updated with the following message:
Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar will be closed for refurbishment beginning July 23, 2024. Plot a course to visit the Plaza del Sol Caribe pop-up store located at Tortuga Tavern for pirate treasures and more. Please check back later for updates.
