While visiting Magic Kingdom recently, we noticed that construction walls have expanded significantly for what many believe is the Pirates of the Caribbean-themed tavern. The construction walls were put in place last week as a majority of the Pirates of the Caribbean gift shop, Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar, was closed. A temporary pop-up shop, Tortuga Treasures, opened at the Tortuga Tavern quick-service location across the walkway.
We’ve reached out to Disney World to get some more context on the construction underway at Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar, but we haven’t heard back yet. The working theory is that the Pirates bar will go in the former Pirates League space and that construction needs to take place at the adjacent gift shop to support the new offering.

Here’s a look at the expanded construction walls, starting from the exit to the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, and walking through the maze of construction walls, finally reaching the walkway where we can see that construction walls have expanded into the walkway.

Two of the three cash registers are behind construction walls now.
