Guests Won’t Be Allowed to Take Alcohol Out of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is opening this summer at Disneyland and it will be introducing alcohol sales to the general public in the park for the first time ever. Walt Disney himself was against the sale of alcohol, but current Disney CEO Bob Iger will allow it once Galaxy’s Edge opens.

Just because alcohol will be sold at Disneyland doesn’t mean that you’ll see guests finishing off a beer before taking a car for a spin on Autopia. As a matter of fact, you won’t see guests carrying beer around at all. That’s because the alcohol policy at Disneyland will work just like it does at Magic Kingdom in Orlando already. According to the DisneylandAP twitter account, guests will be required to stay in Oga’s Cantina while enjoying their alcoholic beverages.

This mirrors the policy at Magic Kingdom that requires guests to stay inside the table service restaurant where they’re drinking.

Oga’s Cantina will certainly be a bit more unique as it will be a proper bar according to concept art. Disney has also stated that while there will be some seating, the majority of guests will be standing in the intimate space. This is in contrast to Magic Kingdom in Orlando, where guests are seated at a table to drink.

No word yet on how the alcohol policy will function at Disney’s Hollywood Studios as it’s not a “dry” park. As a matter of fact, guests will likely be enjoying a beer while waiting to get into Galaxy’s Edge thanks to the close proximity of the BaseLine Tap House to the entrance of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on Grand Avenue.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens this Summer at Disneyland and in the Fall at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
