After blocking out Cast Members for the foreseeable future, Disney has just lifted blockout dates for Cast Member self admission and main entrance passes from September 9th through September 30th at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Disney typically blocks their Cast Members from entering theme parks during the busiest times of year, and they clearly anticipated Hollywood Studios to be very busy in the opening months of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. While the low waits and attendance at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will certainly be argued in fan communities, the parks have not been busy at all the past few days in part due to the threat posed by Hurricane Dorian. Beyond that, we saw a huge crowd on opening day of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and crowds have been leveling out since then. The virtual queue to enter the land has only been used on opening day, much like operations out in Disneyland. As of publish time, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run has a 40 minute wait time at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The blockout dates have only been lifted through September 30th so far, but it is likely that Disney will lift further blockout dates if Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Disney’s Hollywood Studios continue to see low crowds.
This is usual behavior. They did the exact same thing for pandora. For toy story land and even as far back as new fantasyland
