New Structures Rise and Enclosure of Star Wars Hotel Begins at Walt Disney World

We made it out to the Star Wars hotel construction site recently to check in on the project and found a few notable changes over the past few weeks. The Star Wars hotel, or Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, is located just a couple hundred yards south of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and promises to be an immersive two-day experience when it eventually opens. Crews are hard at work to bring the experience to life and while construction isn’t that far along right now, there has been some noticeable progress in the past few weeks. Let’s take a look!

First, we noticed a few structures have gone vertical. The first appears to be part of the porte cochere at the front of the building as seen below. Here’s kind of an overview of the front of the hotel seen in the left half of the photo, with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in the distance. You can just make out the top of the new construction above the trailer on the right half.

Here are some better photos of the structure.

Another new addition to the hotel is the frame of the bus loading area. A themed bus will take guests from the hotel into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge as part of their multi-day experience.

A new support building is also being constructed. This building is only for administrative purposes.

Finally, we can see that the hotel rooms, or cabins, are being enclosed. There is still no visible work inside, but with so much expected technology going into each room, it’s likely that Disney wants to enclose the rooms to get them out of the Florida elements before continuing with the construction.

    1. Great that they are doing this hotel but seriously, can’t they build a tunnel with moving platform to take you directly into Galaxy’s Edge. A bus doesn’t fit the narrative. Also, not that it means anything, but couldn’t Disney finish off the rock peaks so they don’t look like floating boulders in the sky? Bad show when you are paying a ton to stay at the new hotel and see the back of everything. JMHO.

      • The best part of this new fully themed attraction is you will never see outside, the buses (or shuttles) will also have fully themed digital windows as you are transferred to the planet

    2. This building will be completely surround by trees . you will not see SWGE at all when done. As the trees mature it will be even more dense.
