10 Million People Signed Up for Disney+ on Launch Day

Productivity dropped everywhere yesterday as Disney+, the company’s streaming service, launched to the masses in the United States, Canada, and the Netherlands. According to a statement from Disney (via @frankpallotta), they captured 10 Million sign-ups for the service. In addition, Variety is reporting that the Disney+ was download over 3 million times. Users collectively spent 1.3 million hours streaming the service in the first 24 hours.

Users reported sluggishness and crashes with the service on opening day, with many unable to login or stream their favorite shows. Disney said that “the consumer demand for Disney+ has exceeded our high expectations. We are pleased by this incredible response and are working to quickly resolve the current user issue. We appreciate your patience”.
