While visiting Magic Kingdom this morning, we paid a visit to Tomorrowland to check on the visual refresh project. As part of the project, Disney is removing a lot of the elements that were introduced back in 1994, returning to a look of white’s and blue’s along with clean, simple lines.
In the past few months, work seemed to have stalled a bit, with only small sections of the theming along the PeopleMover track being worked on at a time. Today, we noticed a lot more elements have been not only removed, but the forming of the new (read, classic) look was taking place. In this post, we wanted to highlight all of the various stages of work taking place right now.
Scrims line the left side of the entrance to the land, mainly for the removal of the “fins” found along the PeopleMover track.
A recently removed fin leaves a scar that will soon be taken care of.
On the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor side of the walkway, newly formed elements are awaiting some paint.
We’ll continue through Tomorrowland now as we find these elements in the various stages of development. Before they are smoothed concrete they have to be formed concrete.
Before that, they are seen with a steel mesh type form.
Some theming elements are still stripped down to the support column.
Of course, some are hidden behind scrims, but not all.
When completed, they will look like the columns that can be found near Space Mountain.
As always, keep checking back with us here at BlogMickey.com as we continue to bring you news and photos from around the Disney Parks.
Those silly looking garage doors high above stitch’s great escape should be removed also. Just painting them white is not good enough.
This is so stupid of Disney to revert the timeless retro Art Deco Tomorrowland back to the boring, ugly, and super outdated 70’s Tomorrowland.
