Disney Removes Theme Park Hours Through May 23rd

As we continue to monitor changes made by Walt Disney World during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we noticed that park hours have been removed through May 23rd.

As a reminder, Disney has cancelled reservations made through the same date.

While there is plenty of speculation on a reopening date for the theme parks, we really only have three statements from Disney that would help us make an informed decision.

First, Disney is accepting new reservations for June 1st and beyond. While this is not to be considered an opening date, it appears to be a fairly solid internal date for reopening. Disney has targeted that date since late March.

Second, aย statement to Cast Members from Disney in an emailย shows that the company doesnโ€™t anticipate being closed for more than 6 months. This gives us a pretty good idea for a โ€œworst case scenarioโ€ as imagined directly from Disney.

Finally, we have the removed park hours. The removed theme park hours are a final decision of sorts that would show us a โ€œbest case scenarioโ€. By removing the theme park hours, Disney is committing to not being open on those dates.

In reality, by monitoring those three items, we can start to paint a picture of what Disney is thinking. We know that the theme parks wonโ€™t be open before May 23rd thanks to this latest hours update, and we know that Disney isnโ€™t anticipating being closed for more than 6 months. Logically, June still looks to be a target date.

As for what the theme parks might look like when they reopen, we have some key takeaways from a recent โ€œReopen Floridaโ€ meeting. We also have some speculation of our own in the post below.

As always, keep checking back with us here at BlogMickey.com for the latest Disney Parks news and photos. Weโ€™ll continue to bring you news and photos, where possible, through the Disney Parks closure due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) and will resume our normal coverage once the parks reopen to guests, whenever that may be!
