Disney World Plans to Reopen Unchanged After Disneyland Cancels Plans

With news coming out of California last night that the Disneyland Resort was still in negotiations with unions and that the state of California has not given the park clearance to reopen, Disneyland decided to postpone their reopening plans.

Many fans were wondering if Walt Disney World would be next to postpone a reopening, but a company spokesperson told the Orlando Sentinel that Walt Disney World plans have not changed, and that they will reopen the theme parks beginning July 11th.

Of course, the data coming out of Florida in the past few weeks has not been trending in the right direction, with both raw numbers and positivity percentages spiking since the middle of the month. Previously, Disney Chief Executive Bob Iger has said that the company is focusing on “data, not dates”. With Disney World plans remaining in place, that would mean that The Walt Disney Company is comfortable with the data.

It’s actually the upward trend in the numbers and positivity rates that has recently lead several states to implement a quarantine for travelers visiting from Florida.

Tomorrow, the Disney Park Pass theme park reservation system opens to Annual Passholders, the next step in Disney’s reopening plan.
