As we await more details from Disney about their reopening plans, we’re getting some information from unions that represent Disney World Cast Members instead.
In a recent list of Cast Member locations that are being recalled soon, a local union noted that buffet-style locations like Biergarten and Chef Mickey’s would be changing to a family-style setup as Disney looks to mitigate the risk of COVID-19. This would mean that food would be brought to the table on a platter instead of guests actually getting up, forming a line, and collecting the food themselves.
This rumor wouldn’t be inconsistent with a statement that Disney put out on “self-serve changes” coming to the parks and resorts when they reopen. According to Disney, “Beverages and other items that were previously self-serve will instead be served by Cast Members”.
It’s not a far leap to say that buffets would be covered under the statement that Disney made above, Disney has not explicitly called out buffets, so we’ll label this as a rumor for now.
