Man Trespassed From Disney World for Refusing to Wear a Mask

A man was trespassed from Disney World yesterday after refusing to follow both the Orange County mask mandate and Disney World private property rules. In a video posted to social media, the man can be heard yelling about a variety of topics from religion to incorrectly claiming that China owns 50% of Walt Disney World to misquoting Pixar’s A Bugs Life in what he called “almost biblical times”.

The man was escorted from within Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, down Grand Avenue and towards Echo Lake before being taken into a backstage area to allow for processing of his trespass warning. Even though the man was disruptive to those around him, even going so far as to calling Walt Disney World “North Korea”, the video shows Disney Security Cast Members remaining professional throughout the encounter.

Security managers said that the man was first approached by a Cast Member asking him to wear a mask. When he refused, an area leader was called over to speak with the man and it escalated from there, eventually leading the man to go live on social media to document his trespass from Disney World.

Walt Disney World security managers requested that the man be trespassed for refusing to follow posted park rules, and the man was eventually served a trespass warning by the Orange County Sheriff who escorted the man backstage. The Sheriff noted that because the man is trespassed, he would be eligible for arrest should he return before the trespass is rescinded.

Throughout the live stream, the man incorrectly cited the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the HIPAA privacy act. Contrary to what the man said during the live stream, the ADA does not provide any sort of blanket exemption to a mask mandate. The United States Department of Justice said “the ADA does not provide a blanket exemption to people with disabilities from complying with legitimate safety requirements necessary for safe operations”. Disney has maintained that each and every guest and Cast Member must wear a mask while on Walt Disney World property.

The Walt Disney World website lists multiple safety procedures in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but here’s what is says about masks:

    Face Coverings

Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 2 and up) and Cast Members. Please bring your own face coverings and wear them at all times, except when dining or swimming. You may remove your face covering while actively eating or drinking, but you should be stationary and maintain appropriate physical distancing.

All face coverings (whether disposable or reusable) must:

    • Be made with at least 2 layers of breathable material
    • Fully cover the nose and mouth and secure under the chin
    • Fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face
    • Be secured with ties or ear loops and allow the Guest to remain hands-free

At this time, based on guidance from health authorities, neck gaiters, open-chin triangle bandanas and face coverings containing valves, mesh material or holes of any kind are not acceptable face coverings.

Costume masks are also not considered appropriate and are prohibited from being worn, in alignment with our existing rules.

The use of face coverings is not a substitute for physical distancing.

Here at BlogMickey.com, we’ve praised Disney for their ability to adapt new rules and regulations as health officials advise. We’re glad that they are enforcing the face mask rule to ensure the safety of their guests and Cast Members.

    1. Please remove the incorrect uses of the word trespass. You really need to check your grammer here dude you’re on a decently trafficked site

    2. If people don’t want to follow the mask wearing rules while at Disney then they SHOULD NOT GO! Its common sense people.

    3. Now you’re the guy that everyone makes fun of for having your dumb butt kicked out of the park and lost at least 100 dollars if you don’t want to wear the mask don’t go I don’t think anyone loves Disney world more than I but I will wait until this is over or November 4th witch ever comes frist

    4. I could not agree more! The only haunting I want is from the three grinning ghosts on the haunted Mansion attraction not some cast member telling me to pull up my mask!

    5. The comments are ridiculous. Thank goodness Disney is doing the right thing and not backing down to ignorance. Thanks for this article, Mike. Too bad some people can’t seem to understand you despite facts.

    7. Disney us private property, if people do not want to follow the rules, stay home under your rock and complain, we do not care. Your personal freedoms do not trump mine so conform to these rules or stay home, we all need to be safe, thank you Disney.

    8. I don’t think trespassed is the word you are looking for. Banned? Told to leave and that it would be trespassing if he returns?

Either way, good riddance. It’s not hard to wear a mask in a pandemic!

    9. Kevin H Jones: Re: “Can we all agree that Disney with a mask, just like the rest of the world, sucks?” Everything after the above is blah, blah, blah. Grow up and be a responsible member of society!

    10. Nobody said wearing a mask during the summertime would be comfortable, but this is expected from everybody going anywhere (doctor’s office, theme park, shopping mall, supermarket). At least you are given designated areas to sit down and dine (where you can temporarily remove your mask).

In the event a mask would impair your breathing due to a medical and/or health condition? A Doctor would tell you to STAY HOME (which means you would be utilizing home deliveries, curbside pickups, etc).

The Sheriff gave this FOOL the equivalent to a very stern Trespass warning (this means if he is foolish enough to come back onto any of the Team Disney Orlando properties? He will be arrested and charged with a 3rd Degree Felony!)

Trespassing on certain properties is a 3rd Degree Felony, provided the Property has posted the required signage as detailed by §810.09 (and we know every single Disney property has legal signage!)

It’s disappointing to see so many in the news lose it in public because they refuse to wear a mask (perhaps that’s evidence they require mental health help). I give credit to the dedicated Team Disney Orlando Cast Members for handling this professionally.

    11. ?

Trespassed is actually a verb, used correctly here. Just because YOU don’t have that word in your vocabulary doesn’t mean the rest of us can’t use it.

    12. Anyone that feels like they don’t need to wear a mask needs to stay home!!!!!!! Period!!!!!! Ignorance is something they dont need to be teaching their children. I’ve always said “Common Sence” should be a maditory subject you should have to have from K-12 grd. So many people just don’t have it !!!!!!!!!!!!!

    13. Thank you Disney world for keeping everyone safe. I plan on going in October and wouldn’t go if you’re not going to have everyone wear mask.

    14. This is moronic. 79% of people contracting Covid-19 are wearing masks daily. All you Karen’s pitching a fit about this need to get a grip. Just like before this overhyped exhibition of control started being enforced we had viruses and disease. Your going to get it at some point just like all the other flu viruses. Then you heal or you don’t and the world keeps on spinning regardless. Plus this guy was OUTSIDE. Live the man alone if he’s outside. Inside, fine, enforce your mask policy but outside get a grip. Your going to be safe, think its like a fart in the wind…
