After months of delay, Tokyo Disneyland has announced that the New Fantasyland expansion area, including the highly anticipated Beauty and the Beast dark ride, will be opening September 28th.
New Fantasyland is the largest expansion of Tokyo Disneyland ever, and spans three lands – Toontown, Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland. It took the Oriental Land Company three years to complete, and will feature the Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast attraction, shops, and dining locations.
In Tomorrowland, The Happy Ride with Baymax will be an Alien Swirling Saucers-type ride, and The Big Pop will be an all-new popcorn shop.
Over in Toontown, Minnie’s Style Studio will allow guests to visit with Minnie Mouse as she showcases some of her most fashionable creations.
In order to comply with COVID-19 guidance, Tokyo Disneyland will modify some of the experiences and entry will be limited on a temporary basis. A new entry request system will be available via the Tokyo Disney Resort App to assign times to experience the new attractions and meet and greet area. Tokyo Disneyland will also require assigned time reservations for the shops and restaurants.
The only portion of the expansion that won’t be open will be the Fantasyland Forest Theater and the “Mickey’s Magical Music World” inside. That show will open at a yet-to-be-announced date.
