With the news of over 700 equity Cast Members laid off by Disney World, the future of many shows seems uncertain. Maybe not if they’ll come back, necessarily, but when. Of course, there could be a few instances of shows simply not returning at all as Disney sees fit. At this point, it’s too early to know, and Disney has essentially said the same thing by laying off the performers instead of continuing a furlough.
With the scene set, we noticed a change over at Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor that we hope isn’t a foreshadowing of things to come. What we thought might have been a touchup when we saw it disappear a few weeks ago, appears to be an extended disappearance for the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor signage at Magic Kingdom.
As you can see in the photos below, the sign that used to feature the name of the attraction and the tagline “The future of energy is a joke”, has been covered up.
Other signage such as the main attraction sign, remains intact. Window signs along the queue remain in place as well. Hopefully Disney simply removed the sign to prevent confusion for guests who might walk by it while it functions as an extended queue for Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin.
